Learn the art of fermentation for good gut and digestive health (with a lovely lunch afterwards).

Join Steph Sheahan and Liam O’ Sullivan for a relaxed and enjoyable half day in Cork city where they will share their process of making the weekly ferments they do at home.

Three foundational ferments will be covered; sauerkraut, milk kefir and kombucha.

Enjoy a morning of tasting and participating in the making (if you wish). Come away with a jar of sauerkraut, kombucha scoby and kefir grains to get started at home. A nourishing light lunch will also be provided.

What you will experience:

  • The knowledge of how simple fermenting foods can be

  • The benefits of incorporating fermented foods into your diet

  • Overview of the inexpensive equipment and ingredients needed for home fermentation

  • Tips to avoid common problems or spoilage during the fermentation process

  • A step by step demonstration of how to make three different ferments: kombucha, milk kefir and sauerkraut

  • Tastings of each ferment throughout the course of the morning

  • A light and nourishing lunch

  • A jar of sauerkraut and some milk kefir grains to take home to get you started

  • A printed booklet of the recipes covered will be provided

Both Steph and Liam have been fermenting since 2016 are delighted to be sharing (and demystifying) the wonderful gift of fermentation with others. Steph has been a retreat facilitator and cookery teacher at the Cliffs of Moher Retreat in county Clare. She has also created many food related events around Ireland. Liam is the chief home fermenter and has been keeping scobies, sourdough starter and milk kefir grains alive and well for the last number of years.

This workshop will take place at 4 Tuckey Street, Cork - a warm, creative and soulful space in the heart of Cork City. We will look forward to welcoming you.

Please bring along 3 empty jars to take home your ferments in (jam jar size or bigger)
