Summer Intentions

I have been reflecting and journalling about things I want to do over the summer months. I will be finishing up teaching yoga soon for half of June, July and August so this will free me up to explore other projects. I don’t want the summer to pass me by and I am also afraid that I won’t stick to things if my plans stay stuck in a scribble in a notebook somewhere. So I got the idea this morning to actually type them out - to make them more tangible, visible - and hopefully make me more accountable. So here it goes!..

Food:

  • Compile all my recipes into one document, like a draft cookbook

  • Hone and try out more recipes such as dukkah, dumplings, paneer…

Writing

  • Dedicate some time to writing some new poems

  • Challenge myself to write a short story

  • Send some writing off to publishers/competitions

Yoga:

  • Challenge myself to do the poses I avoid or can’t yet do such as crow, plough, handstand… and practice longer holds

  • Yin: Practice longer holds

  • Go to some classes and workshops for inspiration

  • Meditation - daily even for a mini session of a few minutes..stay with whatever sensation arises, observe the natural breath…

Voicework:

I recently bought a microphone which excited me! I have always enjoyed performing/acting and using my voice so I want to challenge myself to get back into this in some way. Not totally figured out yet buy maybe

  • Start a podcast? (Seasons at the Studio..documenting the creative life and thoughts on food, yoga, nature, art..)

  • Record some poems

  • Record some guided meditations or even yoga class?

Workshops:

Again not figured out yet but hopefully with more time I’d like to offer some workshops such as:

  • Drawing (idea “Drawing from the Seasons”)

  • Food Fermentation

  • A mini yoga retreat

Art:

  • Get back into daily observational drawing

  • Make a zine!

  • Weekly artist dates

Other things:

Of course all of the above are related to creative work and projects. But some other intentions include:

  • Camp

  • Picnic

  • See Friends

  • Go to Exhibitions

  • Try new cafes and restaurants

  • Go to a gig or two
