My starting point was revisiting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that were launched by the United Nations in 2015. To me, it felt clear that it is not possible to achieve these under capitalism. I spent some time reading and researching the writings and work of people like Jason Hickel, Vanessa Andreotti and Robin Wall Kimmerer for a wider perspective.

For this piece of work entitled Composting Capitalism, I cut out cardboard rectangles in the dimensions of the 5, 10, 20 and 50 euro. On them I wrote out 17 things I wanted to compost related to capitalism. This act, though small in the grand scheme of things felt like a tangible fractal for future imagining. What if it was possible to compost capitalism? What if this was done on a collective and larger scale? What kind of beautiful things could be grow from this rich compost?
